PHOTOGRAPHY: LESSONS FROM 
REMBRANDT

Typical photography courses often focus on  the technicalities of the photograph.  Often, these become point and shoot exercises.  Photography: Lessons from Rembrandt will take participants through proven techniques used by painters over the past several centuries to put creativity back into the picture.  Students will go through exercises to create photographs that engage the viewer while promoting insightful commentary and dialogue, and traditional composition.

*Participants must bring their own camera

INTRODUCTION TO ZENDOODLE

“Zendoodle” is a term often used to describe a relaxing form of drawing known as Zendoodling.  Join artist & educator Leslie Davies as she guides you through line patterns, shading, and focusing on a small part of paper to create what is known as a “Zendoodle”.  This class will help further drawing skills, self confidence and self awareness.






THE HISTORICAL SCRAPBOOK

Participants will learn to create a historical and artistic scrapbook. Guided by the instructor, students will be shown how to consolidate their ideas step by step through the process of creating their own historical scapbook.  Students will apply the principles of design ie. colour schemes, composition, balance, rhythm, scale, proportion and perspective.  Students are encouraged to be creative and may apply different textures and techniques, such as watercolour painting, collage, photographic retouching, crackle and wrap plastic paint finish, stencils and stamps.

EN PLEIN AIR

Spring is coming and it’s time to paint some colour as the Impressionists did- en plein air!  Painting outdoors improves your skills when working back in the studio. Learn about simplifying your pallet, working fast in the changing light, mark making/ brushwork and paint handling, as well as colour and value relationships.

Want to see what you've been missing? These lessons are about learning to see better, whatever your medium or art style is and will truly change the way you look at all things. Both creativity and curiosity are encouraged through personally experiencing the left and right hemisphere states, making experience a more powerful teacher than the retention of facts. Hamilton Artist Hether Klesh is self taught and continues to research art, seeing and the brain.
