Art House Café Lecture Series: March 18 at 7pm!

Join us Friday, March 18 as we present our next speaker in our popular Art House Café Lecture Series!

Join us at 7pm in the Library's periodical reading room for
Vincent Dion as he presents: From Materials to Relationships: Issues in the Conservation of Contemporary Artworks.

Vincent will be discussing how the field of art conservation has been adapting to meet the new challenges of preserving contemporary art. Questions of dematerialization, technological obsolescence, artist intent and acceptable change will be addressed to outline the main issues encountered by conservators when dealing with art pieces containing time-based media or ephemeral and unstable materials. This will be presented alongside the current state of multi-disciplinary research in the field as well as tools and solutions currently being used by professionals.
