The Grimsby Public Art Gallery is focused on creating unique, relevant and educational programming both for the larger community and for our artist community. It is our goal to create a sense that art is for everyone and is pertinent in the lives of our community members. Art is integral to the overall well-being and vitality of any community and this is highlighted through our programming.

FANTASY ART MAKERS

Each week students will create a project in a different media where the imagination has no limits! With a focus on painting and drawing skills, students can make friends and learn valuable skills in a creative and fun environment. Students will learn the basics of fundamental art practices and media while creating exciting works of art over the course of 6 sessions!





COMMUNITY CHRONICLES

Join exhibiting artist & educator Jan Yates in creating a large scale collage reflecting Grimsby’s history.  Through the use of old documents, photos, this Art of 40 workshop will unveil our rich culture and history in a community setting.







PERSONAL GEOGRAPHIES

This exiting all ages workshop will explore the connections between maps, history, and stories. Participants will create Personal Geographies that illustrate their own history, while learning about the stories of others!

Ruth Emerson has a fun way to introduce rug-hooking. Since beginning teaching, Ruth has created some wonderful work in such a diverse medium.  Using basic techniques & a choice of subject, students will have the chance to use cut up wool and flannel on burlap canvases - with their choice of design!

Join Artist and Educator George Wale for this can’t miss workshop! Explore drawing with tricks on Eye level, vanishing points, and creating the illusion of depth in your drawings.   Improve your drawing skills in this one day workshop open to beginners and seasoned artists!

Applying for an Exhibition can be intimidating and confusing. Educator George Wale aims to change that.  Join us November 7 and learn about preparing your portfolio, shortlisting galleries, what to send them and when in this exclusive workshop!






INTRODUCTION TO WASHI
with Tracey-Mae Chambers

Learn how to transform flat pieces of Japanese Paper in to lightweight, malleable, translucent sculptural material. Using konnyaku (traditional starch paste), you will play with manipulating this beautiful paper into your own creations!
