The EXPO: Extreme Paint Off was held yesterday evening and was a HUGE success!
Here is a link to a Niagara This Week article about the event details: http://www.niagarathisweek.com/community/article/1370991--grimsby-teens-paint-off
This community outreach art project was dreamed up over a year ago by the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, The FORT (Foundation of Resources for Teens) and West Niagara Second Stage as a way for local youth to get together and express themselves in a positive and team-oriented way.
The Grimsby Youth Action Committee was instrumental in recruiting team members, professional artists and adult mentors for this event. We believe it is important for youth to have a voice and to actively participate in community events and projects.
We were thrilled with the turn-out and the artwork produced (which will be on display for the rest of the Summer in our Sculpture Garden). The teens were so dedicated they even kept painting through the storm!
Congratulations to the prize winners! Thank you to Tom Spicer and Scott Pendlebury for donating their time building the boards. Thank you to all participants and all the people who came out to support the kids and our community non-profit organizations! Thank you to Niagara Neighbourhoods NEW Idea Fund and Home Depot for their generosity and thank you to the Town of Grimsby for their positivity and support!
Also, a big thank you to The Source: Cogeco TV for the great feature!
See you at The EXPO next year!
