Summer Student Jobs!

Summer Studio Instructor
Wage: $11.75 per hour

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery seeks a well-organized, motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Summer Studio Instructor.  The Summer Studio Instructor,  supervised by the gallery’s Education Coordinator, will be responsible for developing and running the summer children's programmes at the gallery and for helping to plan educational programs for the upcoming school year.  The ideal candidate will have at least some post-secondary training in visual arts, art history or museum studies.  S/he will have experience working with a variety of art media as well as experience working with children.  Fluency in English is required, a basic knowledge of French is an asset.  Basic computer skills are required and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to learn other programs quickly, would be helpful.

Collections Management Assistant

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery seeks a well-organized, motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Collections Management Assistant.  The Collections Management Assistant, supervised by the Gallery Director, will primarily work with the Permanent Collection.  Tasks will include examining and inventorying artwork, updating documentation, researching art and artists in the collection and curating an exhibition.  The ideal candidate will have some post-secondary training in visual arts, art history, museum studies or history.  S/he will have a good understanding of and the ability to recognize different art media and exhibit meticulous attention to detail in his/her work.  Solid computer skills are required and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to learn other programs quickly, would be helpful.

Summer Studio Assistant

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery seeks a motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Summer Program Assistant. The Summer Program Assistant, supervised by the gallery’s Education Coordinator, will assist the Education Assistant with running the Gallery’s summer art program for children. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of basic art materials and creative processes. They will enjoy working with children. Experience working with groups of children, interacting with the public and/or working with art processes are assets. Flexibility is essential, as is the ability to work efficiently both as part of a team and independently. Basic computer skills are required.
