Visions 2012: Of Lions and Lambs

Fundraising Auction & Gala Event
Saturday March 31st @ 7pm

The month of March is here and, along with the last of winter’s roar and gentle spring breezes, March brings the Volunteer Committee’s annual fundraising auction, a major source of support for the Art Gallery. On Saturday March 31st, Visions 2012: Of Lions and Lambs will take place in the Gallery, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets to Saturday evening’s event are $30.00 each and are now available at the Gallery.

The fundraising auction is always an exciting evening, filled with fun, food and good fellowship. Live music will once again be provided by Dan Kozar. Legends Estates Winery has generously joined us as our wine sponsor. The Auction will feature works by prominent regional artists including Reinhard Reitzenstein, Grace Cowling, Bruno Capolongo and the late Conrad Furey. Works by regional artists are always an important part of the event and this year art for our featured Juried Show will be selected by Tibor Nyilasi. Live auction items will be sold by Nello Romagnoli; bidding on silent auction items will be open throughout the evening.

Auction items will be on display for previewing by Friday, March 30th with a special Artist’s Reception and Preview from   7 - 9 p.m. Guests will be able to bid on silent auction items Friday and Saturday; advance bidding numbers are available for those who are unable to attend the main event.

The Volunteer Committee would like to thank the many generous individuals and businesses in our community who have donated items and services for this event. Many exciting and desirable items will be available including art, antiques and collectibles; gift certificates and wine tours and the always popular weekend at the Sauble Beach cottage.

To reserve your tickets, phone or visit the gallery today; the auction has been a sellout for the past few years, so don’t delay! we look forward to your presence at this exciting event!

Here is a picture of one of the Auction's featured items:

This lovely, functional teapot was created by artist Tim Storey. You might recognize him as the same artist who created "Snap" the dragon (popular with the kids!) that lives right outside our studio (second picture).

Tim Storey graduated from Sheridan College School of Design in 1973, since that time Tim has exhibited his work in many one man/ group shows, exhibitions and ceramic competitions in North America and Europe. His work is in many public, corporate and private collections, including the Kamm Collection (Los Angeles), Arizona State University Art Museum (Tempe Arizona), General Foods Canada (Don Mills), Claridge/ Bronfman Collection (Montreal), Canadian Clay and Glass (Waterloo) and the Grimsby Public Art Gallery (Grimsby).
