Local Produce 2011: On Ice

Closing Event and Art Auction
Sunday December 4th, 2 - 4 p.m.

The 2011 Local Produce theme, On Ice, encouraged regional artists to be inspired by winter activities. Sports, including ice-skating, hockey, and skiing come to mind, as well as other activities like sledding, hiking – or maybe just a good old fashioned snow-ball fight. It is hard to be Canadian without enjoying outdoor winter activities; even if we do it from the comfort of a warm studio!  The Niagara region offers a wealth of opportunities for winter fun and our talented regional artists provided many wonderful images inspired by the season.

All of the works in the exhibition are for sale by silent auction; bidding has been on-going through out the show and will close on Sunday, December 4 at 4 p.m. Make sure to be at the gallery between 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday to enjoy the art, share some seasonal friendship and good cheer and place your bids. You could walk away s with a wonderful work of art – the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one.

Education Guide Series

The GPAG offers many opportunities for school and community groups to come learn about art, explore our exhibitions and get their hands dirty in our studio.

After the jump are some images from our Artists Series. It introduces students to the works and stylistic innovations of a variety of artists. This program is designed for students in grade 1 through 5, but can be adjusted to suit the needs of younger and older students. Each class will cover the work, or a specific period of work, of a different artist. The objective will be to learn about the history of art and to inspire students in the creation of mixed media projects. Students can expect to complete one project for each class.

For more information on our programmes please see our Education Guides for both Elementary and Highschool students: http://www.town.grimsby.on.ca/Education-Programs/
