Spotlight on the Gallery Shop

These beautiful handcrafted pieces of jewellery are created by Grimsby's Josephine's Distinctive Creations.  Pieces of dichroic glass with the desired colours and textures are first cut and shaped, positioned, then fused together in a kiln.

The term 'dichroic" (two colours) refers to a molecular coating on the glass, and it's ability to transmit certain wavelengths of light and reflect others.  The effect is seen in nature in peacock feathers and opals.

Check out Josephine's Distinctive Creations and other talented local artists  at the Grimsby Festival of Art next Saturday September 10.  Check out the Festival webpage for location, time and vendors!
